Heat Pump Water Heater and Air-to-Water Heat Pump Incentives are Now Available

SF HPWH Launch

December 10, 2024

Single family residents in California can now access heat pump water heater incentives available through TECH Clean California for projects sold on or after December 10, 2024. California residents of single family homes may earn $1,100 in Northern California and $3,100 in Southern California.

Requirements to receive a TECH Clean California heat pump water heater incentive include customers enrolling in a demand response program, a time-of-use (TOU) rate, and a water heater rewards program (only for PG&E or SCE service areas). New requirements will earn customers rewards when reducing or shifting electricity use to lower cost times of the day.

Contractors who sold single family air-to-water heat pump projects on or after November 12, 2024, can now reserve funds and submit claims for incentives of $10,000 for combination systems and $2,500 for space heating only. Air-to-water heat pump equipment installed with a global warming potential of 150 or less is eligible for an additional $1,500 in incentives. Visit techcleanca.com/incentives/single-family-incentives/air-to-water-hp for more details.

Air-to-water heat pumps are a cutting-edge solution for space heating and domestic hot water needs. These highly efficient systems transfer heat from the outside air to water and are designed to work in a wide range of climates. Air-to-water heat pumps reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while delivering consistent performance and comfort.

All incentives will be passed through the contractor to the customer. Additional incentives through BayREN Heat Pump Water Heater Contractor Incentive Program, 3CE Electrify Your Home, etc., are also available. A full list of incentives can be found on the Switch is On Incentive Finder.
