Multifamily Heat Pump Incentives Now Available

TECH Clean California multifamily incentives are now available! As of November 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. PT, we are accepting reservation applications for multifamily incentives, including standard incentives and enhanced support pathway incentives. These incentives will be available to TECH Clean California contractors across the state supporting multifamily properties/buildings.
Standard incentives range from $1,000 to $8,000 per individual heat pump HVAC, $1,500 per apartment served for central HVAC, $4,500 to $7,000 per unitary heat pump water heater, $2,200 to $3,000 per apartment served for central heat pump water heater, and $4,000 per pool and spa heat pump water heater. These standard incentives are funded through the state of California’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF).
Enhanced support pathway incentives include the following pathways: central heat pump water heater monitoring and optimization, electrification readiness, and small portfolio owners.
TECH Clean California multifamily heat pump HVAC and heat pump water heater standard incentives have a total budget of $4 million and enhanced support pathway incentives have a total budget of $9 million. These incentives will be accepting applications starting today through December 12, 2025.
This new round of incentives will not be first come first served; instead, a random lottery system will be instituted.

Funding for this project is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
