Multifamily Central Heat Pump Water Heater Optimization Incentives Now Available
July 28, 2026
TECH Clean California multifamily enhanced support pathway for central heat pump water heater optimization incentives are now available! As of July 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. PT, we are accepting reservation applications for multifamily central heat pump water heater optimization pathway incentives. These incentives will be available to TECH Clean California contractors across the state supporting multifamily properties/buildings.
Enhanced support pathway incentives for central heat pump water heater optimization are $5,000 for pre-retrofit monitoring, $5,000 for post-retrofit monitoring, and $5,000 for a monitoring equipment allowance. Specifically, for fixing pre-retrofit distribution issues, incentives are $17,000 per plant; capped at $34,000 per project. These incentives are funded through the state of California’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF).
Contractors that have installed six or less central heat pump water heater systems through TECH Clean California are encouraged to apply. The existing domestic hot water system should have a recirculation loop and serve more than five units.
These incentives will be accepting applications starting today through August 17, 2026, or until incentives are fully reserved. This round of incentives will be first come first served and reviewed on a rolling basis.
