TECH Clean California’s Annual Report highlighting the key results from year two is now available on techcleanca.com. Reporting on market transformation results, the TECH Clean California Annual Report highlights learnings and accomplishments through the initiative's statewide focus and collaboration. The guiding principle of TECH Clean California puts the state on a pathway to six million heat pumps by 2030 and carbon-free homes by 2045.

In the second year since the initiative’s launch, TECH Clean California:

  • Enrolled over 741 contractors to the initiative – increasing consumer access to resources to move toward heat pump technologies.
  • Relaunched single family heat pump incentives with 5,240 reservations and relaunched multifamily heat pump incentives with reservations filled in just nine minutes.
  • Donated 35 heat pump water heater units to trade schools and added heat pump training to new and existing curricula to help build the workforce development pipeline.
  • Worked with 140 community outreach ambassadors to garner awareness and support for electrification, breaking through barriers to adoption.
  • Dedicated and delivered 40 percent of incentive dollars toward equity incentives for income-verified customers.
  • Used targeted customer data with a media campaign which garnered a 39 percent increase in favorability towards heat pump technology and electrification.

TECH Clean California, a statewide initiative to accelerate the adoption of clean space and water heating technology across California homes to help California meet its goal of being carbon-neutral by 2045, provides market incentives and workforce education and training to make it easier for distributors and contractors to stock, sell, and install low-emissions heat pump technology for residential replacement projects. Designed to support both existing programs through matched incentive funding and to extend incentives statewide, TECH Clean California emphasizes clean HVAC and water heating access for low-income and disadvantaged communities.

The TECH Clean California initiative is funded by California ratepayers and taxpayers and administered by Southern California Edison Company under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission. The TECH Clean California team is led by Energy Solutions and partners with Ardenna Energy, Association of Energy Affordability, Building Decarbonization Coalition, Electrify My Home, Frontier Energy, National Comfort Institute, Energy Outlet, Recurve Analytics, The Ortiz Group, Tre’ Laine Associates, and VEIC.
